The Cake
It has been three years. OMG! I was so happy that we had completed three years of happily married
life. My friends always said I was the luckiest girl in the world because my husband was Garrett.
I agreed with them. He was tall, had golden eyes, curly hair, and was a gym freak, which made him
even more handsome.
We met in a library downtown. I was reading a book when a man in a black overcoat approached me.
He pointed toward the chair beside me and asked, “Can I sit here?”
At that moment, my heart forgot to beat for a second.
He started talking, and somehow, I didn't feel like I was speaking to a stranger. He was kind.
Time passed. We got married, and we even went to Edinburgh, my dream destination, for our
honeymoon. And here we are today.
It was September 2nd. I made a coffee cake for him because he loved only three things in the world:
coffee, chocolate, and, of course, me.
I dressed up after preparing everything for him. I wore a red dress and an expensive perfume. I looked
beautiful.
He ate the cake.
“It was delicious,” he said.
I kept talking because I was so happy. He said nothing, but stared at me as if he were admiring me.
Today, the room carries the same aroma as that day.
Sweet. Scented. Sinister. Murderous.
This lockup gives me the same feeling today.
Maybe because it has been three years since I killed him.
His soulless body lies in the kitchen. His golden eyes stare at me. Everything is the same as when I first
met him, except for his purple lips.
I think I added too much poison to the cake.
But he should only love me. His mistake!
